MADISON, Ala. (WAFF) - Parents in Madison are concerned after a sharp tool was found on a bus at Mill Creek Elementary.
One mom says her daughter was even injured by it. Welding Tools

Elizabeth Keener said her children, ages six and nine, discovered what they believed was a knife on a school bus at Mill Creek Elementary.
Keener said this happened Tuesday afternoon as her children were boarding the busses to head home.
She said her youngest son found the tool on a bus seat, and her older daughter took it away.
When she did, Keener said the tool opened, revealing a blade which ended up cutting her daughter’s hand.
She said she was not aware of the incident until her children returned to her home, and it took an hour for school leaders to officially notify her that an incident had occurred.
Parents were not made aware of the incident until Wednesday when Mill Creek Elementary released a statement to parents saying a “cutting tool” was left on a bus by an employee performing maintenance.
”I think that this is something that parents should be aware about. It’s a safety hazard, a threat to their safety, and I mean we’re talking about elementary age kids here,” said Keener.
Keener said this incident has changed how her students will get to and from school in the near future.
”So I will be driving my kids to and from school from now on and you know that’s also sad. That means I have to take time off of work to commute when they should be able to have a safe bus to ride to school,” said Keener.
The statement from school administration also read:
“Madison City Transportation Department will review this incident and make appropriate adjustments to their procedures. We are certainly glad that the student responded very appropriately and gave the tool to the driver. Please continue to remind your students to make their bus driver aware of any suspicious items.”
